Year 4 have had a very productive half term.
In Geography we have been learning all about a Contrasting Locality, we were comparing Norwich to Malaga, in Spain. Over the course of the term, we have become a lot clearer about the countries in Europe and using geographical language to describe places. We wrote an extended report comparing the landscape, climate, location and famous residents of Norwich and Malaga.
In Science, we have been learning all about the digestive system. We have made models, drawn diagrams and conducted experiments. We even wrote about the digestive system in our English lessons, when we were writing explanation texts. As well as explanations we have performed and written poems this half term. Our Halloween poems were very spooky!
We were lucky enough to visit The Norwich School this half term to talk part in a 'Sensational Science' workshop. Our learning centered around rockets as we were all celebrating 50 years of man landing on the moon. We powered rockets using elastic bands, Alka Seltzer and real rocket fuel! It was a lot of fun.
We have had a great half term of swimming and some of our class represented the school at a local swimming competition. We got to show off our breaststroke, front crawl and butterfly!
It has been fabulous to continue our Food Discovery programme. We made a delicious vegetable curry and a flavour packed Moroccan cous-cous. The best thing is that there is always plenty to take home and share with our families. We have also had the opportunity to taste lots of new ingredients and grind wheat to make flour. We're really looking forward to continuing the programme over the next two terms.
