To encourage greater participation in home reading we have launched a ‘Reading Olympiad’.
Last week, every child in KS2 was sent home with a reading record and ‘Reading Olympiad’ booklet which included recommended book lists and challenges for children to complete to gain extra points. It is expected that every child will read at least 5 times a week and this needs to be recorded in their reading record and taken in to school every day. A record of children who are reading the required about of times will be kept by the class teacher who will award a ‘reader of the week’ certificate.
Once they reach a certain number of points they will win a medal, awarded in our weekly celebration assembly.
