We are delighted to be working with Edwards & Blake, our new caterers.  Working together, this will enable us to explore refreshing new opportunities and alternatives in order to ensure an improved service to enhanced the lunch time experience for all our pupils at Magdalen Gates.

At Magdalen Gates, children can either bring their own packed lunch to school or eat a school lunch. School dinners are freshly prepared and cooked each day in our school kitchen by Mrs. Jill Annison and her team.

School lunches cost £2.20 per day for KS2 pupils and must be ordered and paid for in advance online using SchoolMoney. KS1 pupils lunches are free but still must be ordered with SchoolMoney

When children eat better, they do better. Nutritious, balanced meals are not only important for children’s healthy development; they also boost their energy and concentration during the school day.

At Magdalen Gates we have been award the Silver ‘Food for Life’ award which means we have met high national nutritional standards for the children’s lunches. Our menus are carefully planned so that we offer a variety of healthy and balanced meals that appeal to the children. Special diets can be provided for medical or religious reasons. If your child requires a special diet, you should give details to the school, including any recommendations. A letter from your child’s doctor should accompany any requests for special diets on medical grounds.

Universal Free School Meals – The government is currently still funding free meals for all infant children (Years EYFS, 1 and 2) until further notice.

Free School Meal Entitlement – Apart from UFSMs, your child may be entitled to free school meals, if you receive one of the following benefits:
Income Support;
Employment Support Allowance (Income Related);
Income Based Job Seekers Allowance;

If you are eligible your child could have a free healthy meal every day.

We are keen to encourage families who are eligible for Free School Meals to apply. Even if you do not wish your child to have a free school meal, you should still apply, as the school receives an extra funding per pupil each year.
